Demorest Manufacturing Company was founded over 80 years ago in 1845 and started out by manufacturing sewing machines and selling paper patterns for dress making. The name of the company was later changed in 1907 to Lycoming Foundry and Machine Company, after it was sold to Gerrit S. Scofield and Frank M. Scofield.
