ELDEC: Performing More Conversions Than A Televangelist

ELDEC Prodcuts
Headquartered in Lynnwood, Washington, ELDEC is a designer and manufacturer of electronic and electromechanical products catering to the civil and military aerospace markets. Founded in 1957, ELDEC is known industry-wide for its power conversion, sensing system, and true mass fuel flow technologies. As of 1994, ELDEC has been operating as a brand under Crane Aerospace. Crane employs a 2,800-strong workforce. ELDEC’s products are integrated onto the following major aerospace platforms:
  • Airbus A310, A340, A350, and A400M jetliners
  • AgustaWestland AW101 medium-lift helicopter
  • BAE Systems ALR-56C and ALR56M radar systems
  • Eurofighter Typhoon
  • Mars Rover
ELDEC’s array of aerospace solutions includes:
  • Lube and Scavenge Pumps (for positive displacement purposes)
  • Fuel/Water/Cooling Pumps (centrifugal pumps for AC, VFAC, DC, and brushless DC applications)
  • Fuel Flow Transmitters (with flow ranges ranging from 70 to 35,000 PPH)
  • Auto-Transformer Rectifiers
  • Radar Transmitters
  • Microwave Power Modules
  • EMI Filters
In 2000, Hamilton Sundstrand contracted ELDEC for its power management equipment. This was a significant contract win for ELDEC. Hamilton Sundstrand integrated ELDEC’s technologies onto high-profile platforms such as the Embraer ERJ-170, Embraer ERJ-190, Fairchild Dornier 728JET, and Fairchild Dornier 928JET regional jetliners. ELDEC’s long-standing partnership with Hamilton Sundstrand also includes being under contract for the battery system and DC-DC converter for the US Amy’s Comanche RAH-66 reconnaissance and attack helicopter program. In 2006, the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft division awarded ELDEC Corporation a US$6.7 million fixed-fee contract for the design and development of three installation kits for a C-130 Real-Time Weight and Balance System. The kits will cut costs associated with man-hours and program delays. They also speed up the deployment of aircraft and improves flight safety.
