Rolls-Royce Delivers 2,000th AE 2100 Engine, Will Power C-130J Super Hercules

Rolls-Royce has delivered its 2,000th AE 2100 engine, which was installed onto a US Air Force C-130J by Lockheed Martin. This major milestone reflects the continued success of Rolls-Royce as the world’s leading engine manufacturer for military transport. Developed to power the latest generation of high-speed turboprop aircraft, the AE 2100 has been designed to operate under the demanding conditions of open water and off-runway take-offs and landings.

Setting new standards for turboprop performance, efficiency and economy, the AE 2100’s versatility is highlighted by its selection for regional, key military transport and long-range maritime patrol applications worldwide.

The AE 2100 is a turboprop derivative of the T406 turboshaft engine. It has been developed to power the new generation of high-speed regional aircraft in the 50 to 70 seat category, military transports and long-range maritime patrol aircraft. The engine is coupled to a new technology six-bladed Dowty propeller for use on the 50-seat Saab 2000 and the Lockheed C-130J Hercules military transport.
