Liebherr Wins Boeing 777X Actuators Contract

Switzerland-based aviation industry supplier group Liebherr Aerospace was awarded with a contract by Boeing to supply high-lift systems and geared rotary actuators for the Boeing 777X aircraft. This is the third contact that they have been awarded for the 777X. On the first contract, Liebherr is expected to deliver three components-the lath pin actuator, secondary lock actuator, and fold subsystem. On the second contract, Liebherr is expected to deliver the power drive unit and the hydraulic motor.

In terms of the trailing edge geared rotary actuators on the Boeing 777X, the design and development is among the largest that has even been designed on a commercial aviation aircraft. The Liebherr-Aerospace office in Seattle along with the Lindenberg facilities will work on this in order to support the design and development.

With all of this, Liebherr is also helping Boeing on the 777X iron wing mini rigs and test rigs for the secondary flight controls. These test rigs, however, will be manufactured at the Liebherr-Aerospace’s test center for flight controls in Lindenberg, Germany. The mini rigs will be sent to Boeing’s facility in Everett, Washington.
