Daher’s Enhanced Model Year 2016 TBM 900 Very Fast Turboprop Aircraft

Daher, the French automotive, aerospace, and defense conglomerate, has recently been showcasing their new enhancements on their Model Year 2016 version of their TBM 900 very fast turboprop aircraft.  These upgrades will allow for improved warning identification, further enhanced flight envelope protection, as well as improved facilitation of flight planning. Daher has been presenting these enhancements at the Changi Exhibition Center at the Singapore Airshow.

The advancements made by Daher were initially introduced along with the new software release from Garmin for the G1000 V15 avionics suite. This avionics suite is the TBM 900’s all-glass cockpit configuration.

“With the Model Year 2016 TBM 900, we are offering our customers a concentration of innovation, technology and safety improvements that can be compared to bringing an ‘ecopilot’ into the cockpit to reduce the pilot’s workload,” said the Senior Vice President at Daher’s Airplane Business Unit, Nicolas Chabbert. “Those innovations reflect our policy of constant improvement, which offers TBM customers the latest technology available for the optimized use of their aircraft.”

The enhanced version of the Model Year 2016 TBM 900 features stability augmentation systems as well as electronic monitoring systems which are designed to assist the pilot in keeping the aircraft in stable flight conditions while flight parameters are exceeded.

Autopilot has also been equipped with flight envelope monitoring through the Under-speed Protection (USP) and the Electronic Stability and Protection (ESP) systems. Aural sounds have been replaced with new aural alerts for oxygen mask use, landing gear extension, overspeed, and stall, which will all allow for better warning identification. Daher will also be incorporating the L-3 Lightweight Data Recorder from L-3 Aviation Products as a standard feature on the TBM 900 for flight data and voice recording.
