Acquisition story in brief:

Brook tree was based in San Diego, manufacturing high-performance digital and mixed-signal integrated circuits for computer graphics, multimedia, imaging and communications applications. It was then acquired by Rockwell International Corporation in 1996. Rockwell has operations in automation, avionics, aerospace, military electronics, semiconductor systems and automotive component systems. This acquisition blended two businesses that offer synergies and highly complementary growth paths. Rockwell is the global leader in analog and digital modem integrated circuits and also offers a broad line of wireless components and other mixed-signal semiconductor products. Rockwell then became Conexant Systems in 1998.
