Boeing Adds Touchscreen Displays into its 777x
On September 22 2016, Dan Heilman wrote an article for Global Spec talking about Boeing’s newly upgraded 777x which comes with touchscreen flight displays. It was Rockwell Collins who would provide the touch screen flight displays for Boeing. With the implementation of the touch screens, Boeing Is able to make the flight deck more intuitive for pilots which in turn makes flight operations more efficient.
Here is what Heilman had to say about the touchscreen flight displays. “The 777X touchscreen flight displays will be multi-touch, meaning that two pilots can touch the same screen at the same time. The touch screens will use what Rockwell Collins calls resistive technology, meaning that the screens can distinguish a light touch from a firm touch. That way pilots can avoid unintentional interaction with the displays. The touch screen bezel will also provide bracing features for operation during turbulence.”
The Boeing 777x is considered one of the newest serious of the Boeing 777 family. There is also the 777-8 as well as the 777-9. What’s different about the 777x is that there is a new engine, composite wing, and well as technologies was brought over from the Boeing 787. So far, Boeing has let the public know that there are roughly 300 orders and commitments for the new 777x. Boeing plans to deliver these 777x with the touchscreen flight display units sometime in 2020.
Other popular aircrafts by Boeing Aircraft are such as the 787 Dreamliner, 737 Max, and the 747-8.
