Toshiba Plans to Launch a new High Voltage MOSFET Family for High Speed Switching

On March 29th 2016, Electronics Sourcing released an article by Thomas G E Smart talking about Toshiba Electronics. The website says how there will be a new type of range for the MOSEFETs switching voltage regulators designs. These are considered more efficient, more high speed, and higher voltage than previously.

These Toshiba high-Voltage MOSFET efficient, high-speed switching regulator designs will come in two different ratings. One rating will be the 800V while the other rating will be the 900V. These two ratings will come with four N channel devices that have a typical resistance of 1.9 Omega. These can be used in applications such as flyback converters for LED lighting as well as generating power for supplies and circuits that have switching below 5A.

These MOSFETs are based on another Toshiba part. This Toshiba part is considered the Pi MOS VIII, eighth generation planar semiconductor process. The semiconductor process has the ability to combine optimized cell design and put it together with very high levels of cell integration. The MOSFET will be able to support technologies that a reduce gate charge as well as capacitance. The capacitance can be supported without losing benefits of the low RDS(ON).

These MOSFETs represent low-current supplements to Toshiba’s existing DTMOS IV line-up of 800V super junction DTMOS4 devices. The 2.5A TK3A90E and 4.5A TK5A90E feature VDSS ratings of 900V and have respective typical RDS(ON) ratings of 3.7O and 2.5O. Both the 4.0A TK4A80E and 5.0A TK5A80E devices offer VDSS ratings of 800V with respective typical RDS(ON) ratings of 2.8O and 1.9O.
